Herodotus told two legends about the origin of Scythia. According to one of them, Hercules, being here, met an unusual woman in the Black Sea (in the cave of the land of Gilea). Its lower part was a snake. Three sons were born from their marriage - Agathirs, Scythian and Gelon. From one of them the Scythians came.
